description

The essential seals that you will need to keep the little guy running perfectly.

How often should I replace the seals?

Depends on how often you use TLG and how careful you are. On average, we would expect the following:

The Boiler Cap seal and the Group Head Seal are the two major seals in the machine. They make sure that the machine creates the correct pressure. they need to be regularly cleaned in the case of the Boiler Cap seal lubricated.

  • The Group Head seal should be replaced every 12 months to 24 months.
  • The Boiler Cap seal should last 6 to 12 months and should be replaced regularly. Some customers have managed to keep the same boiler cap seal for between 2 to 5 years by being careful and not over-tighten when filling with water. Also, adding a little cooking oil to moisten it now and again will help. Hand tightening rather than using the group handle also helps. Caution, if the boiler ring is old and the rubber is too hard it may not seal correctly.
  • All other external seals should last 3 to 5 years.

You can change these seals yourself at home - other seals require the machine to be pulled apart by the service team.

5/5 for service

Great service after an unintended client error of not applying oil and over tightening boiler cap seal (please bold these instructions on website or put a leaflet in with your product). New management have produced softer rubber seals for improved… sealing. However, this seams to make them more liable to tear, which happened to me within a week.

A courtesy replacement seal was sent once I got in contact, thank you. I was cautioned about over tightening, need to oil seal (periodically?), and not using too much heat with the little guy. I have not put this seal on as I put the original 10yr old seal back on and it’s still working….

The group head seal is working a treat as it was the main reason I bought the kit. The kit is expensive I believe due to this seal with a slit on the inside of the seal to take head shower. Suggest checking your head shower periodically as mine was 70% clogged with bits of coffee bean that had fallen in reservoir over 10yrs.

Still a fan of the little guy as a beautifully designed stovetop.

Finally we can get support and parts

I have had my little guy for ten years and have had to live through poor support and parts availability. Once these guys took over the business, everything changed. I can now get the parts and support I need to keep my little guy going for another ten years. I love you guys—thanks very much for taking over this great product.

Great service and high quality parts

It's a bit pricey, but at least they are available. I spoke to the team, and these are all special seals that need to be custom made so the price is high for low volumes - just glad I can get some support and parts.

Correct items, but very expensive.

$84 delivered for 4 seals. Sure they work perfectly and I know the group head seal is slightly more complicated than your standard O -ring, but IMHO this is still a ridiculous price.

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the review.
These are all custom-made seals specifically for TLG. We have to do special small runs; unfortunately, the costs are very high for small volumes.
We agree that they are a bit pricey, but there's not much we can do about it; we inherited the designs and must use these seals.
The good news is that you can actually get some support and spare parts now.
TLG team.
